NSW: Parties in Tristar dispute hopeful of resolution

Parties involved in the Tristar dispute are understood to be approaching a resolution
as they remain locked in private talks in Sydney this morning.

Tristar Steering and Suspension is this morning expected to seek return to work orders
for the company's 350 workers, who have been striking for over two weeks.

However, a union source involved in the talks says it seems hopeful that unions will
agree to an insurance bond to protect workers' entitlements as long as the workers will
not have to fund the bond.

Government representatives are also waiting to front the commission today to seek return
to work orders, with the dispute forcing the standing down of thousands of workers at
Ford, Mitsubishi and Holden.

The strike has been illegal since 3pm yesterday when the workers failed to return to the job.

A mass meeting of workers is expected at Tristar's Sydney factory at 3pm today.
