NSW: Woman drowns at beach

SYDNEY, Feb 27 AAP - A woman drowned after jumping into the water at a beach north
of Wollongong overnight, a police spokesman said.

A witness said he saw the woman walk to the south point of Austinmer Beach and jump
into the water shortly before 11pm (AEDT).

The witness alerted lifesavers who then retrieved the woman's body.

Police appealed for help in identifying the woman.
